Pure coconut oil is good for you. It is the oil of the fruit so what grows in nature must be good for us as it is natural. Most coco oils in the shop are maybe 30-50% pure coco oil with some not so good other stuff added, to make more profit. Some of them taste pretty bad. Once you have tasted the real stuff you will know immediately by smell or taste if it is pure coco oil or not, which is the only thing you want to put into your body.
Pure coco oil is much more expensive than the poor quality ones so this is a guiding factor too.
Same with massage shops they mostly use cheap coco/chemical oil mix. Bring your own oil. What goes on the skin goes into the body. If you can’t eat it don’t put it on your skin.
Bad oils are very damaging to the body and will age you very quickly. Most cooking oils are more plastic than natural oil and are chemically altered again when heated to a high temperature.
Coco oil is one of the few exception to this as it can be heated to a high temp without altering despite being labeled wrongly in the food industry as an unstable oil.
Changing over from bad oils to goods oils is a big step towards your good health.
Natural oils are best eaten in their original form (first generation), ie. in the whole fruit (olive, avocado etc.). Second generation is when it is pressed out of the fruit and stored in a bottle. This is second best but we need oils so sometimes this is the only way we can get them. Oils are delicate and when taken out of their natural suspension so to speak they are vulnerable to being altered by being exposed to light, heat, being stored in plastic instead of glass etc.
Fish oils are said to be very delicate and don’t keep well outside of the fish.
Good oils: Olive, coconut, avocado, flax, sesame etc. Ghee (clarified butter) is said to be excellent for cholesterol. Nuts have good oils for the brain which is mostly fat (lecithin)
The best oils should ideally be labeled: stone ground (a rare thing), cold pressed (no heat involved in the extraction process), first press (not the second press), pure extra virgin oil (not mixed or blended with any other oil). In a dark glass bottle (protected from oxidation by daylight). Taste is everything and should be your guide.
Bad oils: most cheap cooking oils in the store, especially in clear plastic bottles. Oils are light sensitive and best stored in dark bottles.
Good fats push the bad fats out. Oils keep the liver and gallbladder flowing so the gallstones don’t build up. They are necessary for the vascular system also. We need fats (plant fats) in out diet.
1-2 tablespoons per day is good. More for a therapeutic dose.
Plant oils are best for our body

Oregano oil is oil from the oregano herb. It is important not to confuse Oil of Oregano with common oregano that is used as a spice for cooking. Common oregano is typically Origanum Marjoram, while Oil of Oregano is derived from Origanum Vulgare. Oregano oil is a natural substance which is extracted by steam distillation. The key compounds found in it are carvacrol and thymol. Both of these compounds have significant effects on harmful micro-organisms. Oregano oil is known to have potent anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-parasitic properties.

Oil of Oregano can improve respiratory health and is a wonderful natural remedy for sinus condestion. Add 3 drops of the oil into a glass of juice and drink this mixture daily for 3 to 5 days. You may get some relief by adding a couple drops of oregano oil to a diffuser or vapourizer and inhaling for a few minutes. Drinking a few drops of oil in juice or water may also provide some relief from a sore throat.

Oregano can be helpful for some gastrointestinal issues due to the high concentrations of thymol and carvacrol. To calm unset stomachs and aid digestion just drink a glass of milk or juice that is mixed with 2 or 3 drops of the oil.

Oregano oil has anti-fungal properties and puts up a strong fight against Candida albicans.

Oregano oil is helpful for skin conditions like cold sores, muscle aches, nail fungus, joint pain, and dandruff. However, it can be applied directly onto the skin only it is has been diluted otherwise it can be irritating. Never use oregano oil on broken or sensitive skin. Oregano oil can to be mixed with Olive Oil or Coconut Oil before application (usually one teaspoon of Olive Oil or Coconut Oil per one drop of Oregano Oil).

It’s a natural insect repellent as it contains many compounds, and one of them is carvacrol – a natural insect repellent. Put a few drops of oil on outdoor furniture or apply a dilution of it to unbroken skin when heading outdoors.

Be careful – oregano oil is not for everyone! The use of oregano oil should be avoided in infants and children, pregnant or nursing women. It also should be avoided by people with high blood pressure or a heart condition. Do not use oregano oil for a  long-term treatment as it can interfere with iron absorption and can impact blood flow. Always dilute it!

You can buy oregano oil in almost any natural health or nutrition store.  It is important to make sure that it is derived from Origanum Vulgare, and that the carvacrol concentration is at least 70%.

Oregano is a popular culinary herb, used in cooking for the flavor of its leaves. It has an aromatic, slightly bitter taste. Its scientific name is Origanum vulgare and it belongs to the mint family (Lamiaceae). The name comes from the Greek words oros (mountain) and ganos (joy). This herb is native to warm western and southwestern Eurasia and the Mediterranean region.

The chemicals that give oregano its specific and unique smell are thymol, pinene, limonene, carvacrol, ocimene and caryophyllene.

Not only does oregano provide food flavor, it is also an important medicinal herb that has been used in medicine for thousands of years. Hippocrates used oregano as an antiseptic as well as a cure for stomach and respiratory ailments.

Oregano is a powerful antimicrobial because it contains thymol and carvacol, two oils with significant bacteria-fighting power.

This herb is a powerful antioxidant due to a high content of phenolic acids and flavonoids.

Oregano is used to treat respiratory tract disorders, gastrointestinal disorders and urinary tract disorders.

When applied topically it helps treat a number of skin conditions, such as acne and dandruff.

Oregano helps fight fatigue and headaches and can relieve toothache and muscle pain.

It kills intestinal parasites and repels insects.

Oregano is a rich source of vitamin K – an important vitamin which promotes bone growth and production of blood clotting proteins.

It is high in fiber, iron, manganese, vitamin E, calcium and other important minerals.

This herb is also a natural source of Omega-3 fatty acids.

Oregano is one of the healthiest and tastiest herbs on Earth, so if you don`t have a supply of oregano in your kitchen – hurry to get some!

Cinnamon is obtained from the inner bark of several trees from the genus Cinnamomum and is best known as a spice, sprinkled on toast and lattes. There are two main types of cinnamon:

  • Cinnamomum verum (Ceylon cinnamon) – most commonly used in the Western world.
  • Cinnamomum aromaticum (Cassia cinnamon or Chinese cinnamon) originates from southern China and is less expensive than Ceylon cinnamon.

Cinnamon has been used as a spice since 2000 BC in Ancient Egypt. But extracts from the bark of the cinnamon tree have also been used traditionally as medicine throughout the world. In medieval times doctors used cinnamon to treat several conditions such as coughing, indigestion, bloating, arthritis and sore throats.

Nowadays cinnamon is used to treat muscle spasms, vomiting, diarrhea, infections, common cold, loss of appetite. It may lower blood sugar in people with type 1 or 2 diabetis. Since cinnamon is sweet to the taste, it satisfies the cravings for sweet foods that generally afflicts diabetics. Cinnamon may help prevent Alzheimer`s disease and stop Multiple Sclerosis. In addition, it helps prevent the spread of cancer cells and the formation of stomach ulcers. Recent studies have shown that it may be effective against HIV.

Cinnamon is rich in manganese, iron, calcium and fiber.

Including a scoop of cinnamon into your daily diet can help you lose weight. Just add one part cinnamon powder and two parts honey to a cup of boiling water:

  • 1 tbsp of organic honey
  • 1 tsp of organic cinnamon
  • Put cinnamon in a bowl
  • Boil 1 cup of water
  • Pour the hot water over the cinnamon
  • Steep for 15 minutes
  • Add honey to the cooled water (hot liquid will destroy the enzymes in the raw honey)

Drink twice a day: ½ cup in the morning and ½ cup before going to bed. Take on an empty stomach.

You may experience more energy and better sex drive.
